Graduated in Economics and Engineering (Wirtschaftsingenieur) from the Technical University in Berlin (Technische Universitat) with a Diplom-Ingenieur degree, the equivalent of a Master in Industrial Engineering in the U.S. The education included theoretical and practical instruction in both economics and engineering.
