Research

I´m broadly interested in the physics of earthquakes and seismic wave propagation, and how that knowledge can drive real-world impact — from monitoring natural hazards to finding geothermal energy resources.

My background is in global computational seismology, where I focused on obtaining observational constraints on rupture behavior, modeling some of the largest recorded earthquakes with 3D numerical simulations - first in the US and later in Mexico.  For several years I worked in industry at Iceland´s largest geothermal operator, leading  innovation and new energy prospects. This sparked my interest in improving resource exploration methods  and managing induced seismicity. 

At Reykjavik University I have continued this work, focusing on incorporating fiber-optic sensing and large nodal seismometer deployments into our toolbox — in settings ranging from volcanic environments and geothermal fields to the deep ocean.
